Izabella Gustowska – inter-media artist associated with the Piekary Gallery, professor at the Faculty of Multimedia Communication, University of Arts in Poznań. In 2013, having received a Kościuszko Foundation scholarship, the artist travelled to New York. During her 3-month stay there, with the support of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Gustowska made a 50” film entitled The Case of Josephine H… .
The picture is inspired by the figure and fragments from the diary of Josephine – artist, muse, and wife of the American painter Edward Hopper.
Hybrid is a little treasury of personal notes and observations, as well as textual and visual quotes which illustrate the making of this project.
In 2014, The Case of Josephine H. was shown at the International Film Festival T-Mobile Era Nowe Horyzonty in Wrocław, 11th Annual Big Apple Film Festival w NYC, New Voices, Ancient Echoes: Polish Women in Film in NYC, and at the Museum for Contemporary Art in Warsaw. The artist is currently working on the project entitled Hybrid – Media Story.
